General Help: Auction Fees

Buyers Fees - There are no buyer fees or "premiums" charged when using our auction site. The only finical obligation that a buyer has is the payment to the seller if they are the winner of an auction or have purchased an item with the "Buy Now" feature.

Sellers Fees - When using GHA there are two different fees that a seller can be charged for. The first of these fees can occur when you post an item for auction or sale. While most of the formats and optional posting upgrades are free, there are few that have a cost involved. We have listed a brief overview of the FREE options and which options have a fee associated with them. These fees are also displayed when you post an item for sale when using the online sellers interface. The second fee that a seller can be charged for is when an item is sold. These fees are called the "Final Value Fees" or FVF for short. The fees are charged using an aggregated format that has a descending scale for the percentage charged. The "FVF Tiers" and examples of how the fees are charged are listed below.

Sellers Posting Fees (FREE OPTIONS) - The following features below are provided at no cost to the seller when an item is listed on GHA.

Auction Listing Insertion Fee - FREE

A Traditional Auction listing allows you to sell items to the highest bidder. You specify the start price, and people bid against each other in specified bid increments. Traditional Auctions allow the Seller to set both a Reserve and Buy Now price. When listing a Traditional Auction, the quantity of goods is equal to one.

Fixed Price Listing Insertion Fee - FREE

A Fixed Price listing does not allow bidding. The seller specifies the only acceptable price for the item(s). You can sell one item or multiple identical items with one Fixed price listing. Because there is no bidding on fixed priced listings, all items are "Buy Now".

Store Front - FREE

The optional Store feature is a e-commerce solution that helps increase sales by creating a central shopping destination where buyers can learn more about you, your products, and your policies. The storefront is free to setup and has no monthly recurring fees.

Gallery Image - FREE

Thumbnail image that appears with your posted item. The "Quick Zoom" feature is included when you use the gallery image. Please note that the "Quick Zoom" displays for a large majority of web browsers but there are a few that do not display this feature.

Extra Uploaded Images - FREE

Every item posted for auction or sale can have up to 10 images included with the listing. This feature is available to all items listed using the the online posting feature. When using 3rd party posting software only the main "Galley Image" and all other images will have to be linked from the items description section.

Gallery Homepage Featured - FREE

The homepage of gearheadauction.com displays 9 homepage gallery featured listings. The 2nd and 3rd rows of the display use randomly selected postings for display. Your listing will have a chance to rotate into this special gallery display section on the gearheadauction.com homepage.

Homepage Feature - FREE

The homepage featured section is located below the gallery section on the homepage. This section is generated randomly everytime the page is displayed. Your listing will have a chance to rotate into this special display section on the gearheadauction.com homepage.

Auto Re-List Feature - FREE

When using this option unsold items can be automatically re-listed 52 times. All optional fees are charged when an item is first posted for auction or sale. Sellers are NOT charged again when the item is automatically re-listed.

"Buy Now" Feature - FREE

Optional feature that allows you at a "Buy Now" price to your auction style listings. There is no charge when you add this option to a auction style listing.

Sellers Posting Fees -The following features listed are optional and fees will be charged. These fees are charged whether or not the item sells. If an item is posted using the AUTO RE-LIST option you are only charged the listed fees for the first posting.

Classified Ad Insertion Fee

7 Days - $5.00

15 Days - $15.00

30 Days - $30.00

Bold Listing - $0.50

The item descriptions displayed in bold text when the listing is displayed.

Highlighted Listing- $1.50

The item listing is highlighted in an off setting color when the listing is displayed. The colored highlight makes your listing stand out.

Category Featured - $7.50

The item appears at the top of the category that it was posted in.

Sellers Final Value Fees - The following fees are charged to the seller when an item is sold. If a buyer backs out of a sale and does not pay the seller, the seller is entitled to a refund for the FVF.

FVF Tier 1 - Item Sells Between $0.01 To $99.99

FVF Tier 1 is 5.0%

Example - Item sells for $75.00USD. The seller pays a FVF of $3.75 (which s equal to 5% of the Closing Price)

Example - Item sells for $21.00USD. The seller pays a FVF of $1.05 (which s equal to 5% of the Closing Price)

FVF Tier 2 - Item Sells Between $100.00 To $249.99

FVF Tier 1 rate of 5.0% of the first $100 [$5.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 2 rate of 4.0% for the remaining balance.

Example - Item sells for $219.00USD. The seller pays a FVF of $9.76

FVF Tier 1 rate for the first $100 [$5.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 2 rate for the remaining balance of $119.00 [$4.76] (which is equal to 4% of the Closing Price - $100.00)

In this example the overall percentage rate is calulated to be 4.45%

Example - Item sells for $132.00USD. The seller pays a FVF of $6.28

FVF Tier 1 rate for the first $100.00 [$5.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 2 rate for the remaining balance of $32.00 [$1.28] (which is equal to 4% of the Closing Price - $100.00)

In this example the overall percentage rate is calulated to be 4.76%

FVF Tier 3 - Item Sells Between $250.00 To $499.99

FVF Tier 1 rate of 5.0% for the first $100.00 [$5.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 2 rate of 4.0% for the next $150.00 [$6.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 3 rate of 3.0% for the remaining balance.

Example - Item sells for $427.00USD. The seller pays a FVF of $16.31

FVF Tier 1 rate for the first $100.00 [$5.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 2 rate for the next $150.00 [$6.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 3 rate for the remaining balance of $177.00 [$5.31] (which is equal to 3% of the Closing Price - $250.00)

In this example the overall percentage rate is calulated to be 3.82%

Example - Item sells for $279.00USD. The seller pays a FVF of $11.87

FVF Tier 1 rate for the first $100.00 [$5.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 2 rate for the next $150.00 [$6.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 3 rate for the remaining balance of $29.00 [$0.87] (which is equal to 3% of the Closing Price - $250.00)

In this example the overall percentage rate is calulated to be 4.25%

FVF Tier 4 - Item Sells Between $500.00 To $4999.99

FVF Tier 1 rate of 5.0% for the first $100.00 [$5.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 2 rate of 4.0% for the next $150.00 [$6.00] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 3 rate of 3.0% for the next $250.00 [$7.50] PLUS (+)

FVF Tier 4 rate of 2.0% for the remaining balance.

Example - Item sells for $1465.00USD. The seller pays a FVF of $37.80
